Why is an experiment called a controlled experiment? Only one thing is varied at a time.
What is a variable? Anything that might take on different values in an experiment.
What are the three classes variables are placed in? Independent, dependent, and controlled.
What is an independent variable? The variable the experimenter chooses to change.
What is dependent variable? The variable that responds to changes the experimenter makes to the independent variable.
What is a controlled variable? The things that are kept constant in an experiment.
What are the two types of cells that an organism can have? Unicellular (single-celled) and multicellular (many-celled).
What's the difference between sexual reproduction and asexual reproduction? Sexual reproduction is when cells from two different parents unite to create a new organism, and asexual reproduction is when the new organism has only one parent.
All living things need what to do work? They need energy.
All living things need what for building blocks? They need materials.
What is the first stsage of meiosis? prophase
What is the 2nd stage of meiosis? metaphase
What is the third stage of meiosis? anaphase
what is the fourth stage of meiosis? telophase
What atoms make up a molecule? hydrogen and oxygen
Whats the smallest unit of matter? atoms
What the smallest unit of life that can live as a seperate entity? cells
whats the scale for bases? 7-14
whats the scale for acids? 0-7
whats is water? 7
