QuestionAnswer
scientific method series of steps followed to solve problems.
observation obtaining information by using your senses
hypothesis proposed explanation for the way something in the world works.
prediction something that forecasts what would happen in a certain siituation if the hypothesis were true.
experiment something used to test a hypothesis and its predicitons.
control group a normal standard that you can compare with the experiment
experimental group same as the control group but with one independant variable
independant variable the factor in an experiment that is manipulated.
dependant variable something changed that is affected by the independant variable.
theory a set of hypotheses that has been proved true many times.
peer review scientists that critique other scientists work.
