QuestionAnswer
Domain In a modern taxonomic system, the broadest category; the category that contains kingdoms
Kingdom In a traditional taxonomic system, the highest category; the category that contains a group of similar phyla
Ecology The study of interactions between organisms and other living and nonliving components of their enviornment
Ecosystem A community of organisms and their abiotic enviornment
Evolution A heritible change in the characteristics within a population from one generation to the next; the developmant of new types of organisms from pre existing types of organisms over time
Natural Selection The process by which individuals are better adapted to their enviornment, survive, and reproduce more sucessfully than less well adapted individuals do; a theory to explain the mechanism of evolution
Adaptation The process of becoming adapted to an enviornment; an anotomical, physiological, or behavioral trait that imporves an organism's ability to survive and reproduce
