glycogen synthase forms uses UDP-glucose & adds to polymer forming a1-4 links
Branching enzyme breaks off 6-7glycosyl fragments, adds to C6-OH on main chain, forms a1-6 branch
Glycogen synthesis a1-4 bonds & a1-6linkages -branching every 8-10 residues
Glyconeogenesis -during stress,exercise&starvation -release of glycogen -cleavage of 1-4achains
cleavage -by glycogen phosphorylase cleaves a1-4 -adds P -yields G1P
G1P--->G6P same enzyme used as reverse -Phosphoglucomutase -G3P can now be used in glycolysis
Debranching enzyme -bifunctional *cleaves 1-6abranches *transfers a1-4 linked glucose from branch to closes 4hydroxyl end & cleaves off remaining glucose
