What is MUCOSA? wet epithelial membrane next to the alimentary canal lumen
What is MUCOSA consisted of? epithelium, lamina propria, muscularis mucosae
what is the major functions of MUCOSA? secrete: enzymes, mucus, and hormones absorb digested foodstuffs protect against bacterial invasion
what is submucosa? moderately dense connective tissue containing blood and lymphatic vessels, scattered lymphoid follicles, and never fibers
Muscularis externa bilayer of smooth muscle
what is muscularis externa consist of? inner circular layer outer longitudinal layer myenteric nerve plexus
what is the major function of muscularis externa? major regulator of GI tract motility
What is Serosa? outermost covering of the alimentary canal (visceral peritoneum)
what does Serosa consist of? mesothelium layer of connective tissue
Serosa layer in the abdominopelvic cavity think layer of areolar tissue
Serosa layer outside the abdominopelvic cavity adventitia: layer of coarse, fibrous connective tissue that binds the organ to the surrounding tissues
What is the major function of SEROSA? reduce friction adventitia anchors and protects the surrounded organ
