What is an organism? A living thing
What is a micro-organism? A living thing that is small and must be veiwed with the help of a microscope
What is a biotic element? Any living thing found in the environment
What is a species? A group of simular organisms that can make and repruduce more of the same type of organism
What is a population? A group of organisms of the same species in a given area
What is a community? A group of populations of a different species in a given area
What is a nutrient? It is a substance that an organism needs to grow and mantain
What is ecology The study of realationships between organisms and between organisms, and their environment
What is a habitat? The environment where an organism lives
What is an abiotic element? Any non-living component of the environment
What is an ecosystem? It is the network of interaction that links the living and non-living parts of an environment
What is a decomposer? An organism that consumes and breaks down dead organisms or waste matter so they can be reused in the ecosystem
What is a detrivore? An organism that feed on large parts of decaying plants and animal matter and on waste matireal
What is a producer? An organism (e.g. plant) that contains chlorophyll and is able to make it's own food
What is photosythesis? It describes the process where plants use energy from the sun to produce high-energy food called
