Protozoa Tiny animal-like creatures composed of a single cell
Pellicle A thickened membrane which acts like a cell wall
Flagellum A whiplike filament which is located on it's anterior end
Euglenoid Movement A means of movement where the protozoa's body changes shape
Binary Fission An asexual method of reproduction where the one-celled animal splits into two creatures
Pseudopods "False feet," used for locomotion and for ingesting food particles
Foraminifera A protozoa that produces a shell around itself for protection
Radiolaria Protozoa that secrete intricate shells made of silica
Macronucleus Large nucleus
Trichocysts Dartlike structures which a paramecium shoots out when it is attacked
Conjugation A reproductive method that has the paramecia exchange nuclear materials, then split repeatedly into new cells
Sporozoans The spore-forming protozoa
