Endocrine system glands

QuestionAnswer
Pineal gland A small, coned shaped organ in the posterior forebrain, secreting melatonin and involved in biorhythms and gonadal development.
Pancreas A gland that secretes a digestive fluid into the intestine through one or more ducts and also secretes the hormone insulin.
Pituitary A small, cherry-shaped double structure that affects all hormonal functions in the body.
Hypothalamus gland It controls our emotions and behaviors, including our sexual behaviors.
Thymus A lymphoid organ situated in the neck of vertebrates that produces T cells for the immune system.
Thyroid gland Its located near the trachea, this gland secretes hormones that affects growth.
Parathyroid glands Its next to the thyroid, the gland secretes a hormone that regulates calcium levels in a persons body.
Ovary A female sex organ in which eggs are produced, present in humans and other vertebrates as a pair.
Testes The two male sexual glands that produce the male hormone testosterone and the male reproductive cells.
Adrenal glands One pair of glands, located above the kidneys, which produces steroidal hormones, and a medulla, which produces epinephrine and norepinephrine.
