What is a phenotype? Physical or outward appearance
What is a genotype? Information/code that is on DNA
What is an allele? One of two or more forms of a gene. AA Aa aA aa
What is a gene? A section of DNA that has the information to construct a protein
Why does Aa BB = 2n and ab =1n? n=set 1n means one allele of each 2n means one allele of each from each parent
What is crossing over? During meiosis 1 When sections of a chromosome are split off and swapped with the chromosome pair.
What is a dominant allele? In the heterozygote, it is the information that determines the phenotype
What is a recessive allele? In the heterozygote. it is the hidden information
What is a zygote? A fertilized egg
What is homozygous? Information on homologous chromosomes is the same
What is heterozygous? Information on homologous chromosomes is different
What is a gene pool? the stock of different genes in an interbreeding population
