QuestionAnswer
What is and ecosystem? A place where many types of organisms survive together.
Organisms depend on each other and what to survive? nonliving parts of the ecosystem to survive
What are the abiotic factors of an ecosystem? nonliving parts of the ecostym to survive(ex:sunlight soil air water rocks)
what are the basic needs of all living things? food water shelter air and space to grow or hunt (natural rescources)
what is a habitat? an organism's home
what are examplesof things that make it hard for the organism to survive? bad weather, changes to the habitats, poor weather condition
what is a population? a group of same species
what is a community? all types of species/living things
what is an ecosystem? living and nonliving together
what is the bioshpere? all the ecosystems on planet
what is a terrestrial habitat? a habitat on land
what is an aquatic habitat? a habitat in or near water
ecosystems are classified by what? ammount of water and climate
organisms in an ecosystem are connected by how? what they eat
what is a species? all of the same type of organism
what type of organisms make their own food? producers
how do producers make food for themselves? a proscess called photosyntesis
what important role do producers have? the provide food energy for the whole ecosystem
what are consumers? organism that get there energy by eating other organisms
what are the types of consumers? carnivores(eat other animals)herbivores(eat plants)omnivores(eat both plants and animals)
what is an energy pyramid? thing that shows how energy moves in an ecosystem
what is lost in each level going up? energy(moving, eating, bodily procsess all us up energy)
all organisms in an ecosystem need what to survive? producers
what are food webs? tings that show connections between organisms in an ecosystem(links in the web show where food energy is passed. ex:mouse->snake)
what is a scavenger? animal that eats dead animal
what are decomposers? teturn food energy from dead organism back to ecosystem, thus making the soil richer
what is over population? too many of one species in an ecosystem
what is carrying capicity highest number of individual plants or animals that can live in an ecosystem and share those rescources
what are the limithing factors? food, shelter, space, water, numbers of predators and prey, precsence of desiease
what are the three types of symbiosis? mutualism(relationship helps both organisms)parisitism(organism gets benifited;other gets harmed)commenalism(relationship helps one organism;other dosn't get help or harm)
what is a parisite? organism thate takes food from organism by living on its host
what is conservation of mass? the mass of a certain thing stays the same no matter what changes it goes through,so matter cannot be created or destroyed
what are esamples of nature's cycles. nutrients cycle, water cycle, rock cycle, carbon cycle
plants and animals need what to repair themselves? nitrogen
how do plants get nitrogen? from soil
what changes nitrogen in the air to ammonia and nitrates that plants can use? bacteria
how much percent of nitrogen is in the air? seventy-eight percent
