QuestionAnswer
What are trophic / energy levels? A trophic level is the level of an organism in an ecosystem depending on its feeding position along a food chain
What happens to all the energy in animals at each level? All organisms continually use and release energy to their environment, therefore energy is continuously lost from all levels of the food chain
How much energy is passed on to the next organism? Less of the initial energy is passed on to the next organism
What happens tot he energy that isn't transferred? The energy that isn't transferred is used up by the organism
What are food chains? A food chain is a sequence of organisms, each feeding on the next, showing how energy is transferred from one organism to another
What are food webs? A food web is a representation of the feeding relationships within a community
How are they similar? How are they the same? They are both illustrations of different species' feeding relationships
