Mouth saliva makes chemical digestion
esophagus series of muscles that push food to the stomach
stomach acids break down some nutrients, mainly just churns the food
Small intestine A long tube, diameter is small, digestion is completed and most digestion occurs here
Large intestine water is re-absorbed, vitamins are made, waste is prepared to be eliminated
Gall Bladder stores bile
Liver Makes bile which is a substance that breaks down fat
Pancreas allows sugar into the bloodstream, produces digestive juices
Excretory System eliminates waste
Kidneys Located on small of the back, remove waste, filter blood, put in water, and pull out water and toxins
Aorta Tubes that bring waste/blood to kidney
Bladder Stores waste until disposal
Urethra Tube that eliminates waste
Ureter Bring waste to bladder
Nervous System Gathers and interprets info, responds to the info
Central Nervous System Brain and Spinal Cord
Peripheral Nervous System Nerve cells
Cerebrum Thinking, senses, voluntary functions, problem solving
Cerebellum Controls balance and coordination
Brain Stem Involuntary functions, such as breathing, heart beat, etc.
Circulatory System Provides oxygen/nutrients to the cell, pump blood, capillaries, takes in carbon dioxide, remove waste
Heart Pumps blood
Atrium Blood travels through here does not get pumped
Ventricle Pumps blood
Right Chambers of the Heart Oxygen poor
Left Chambers of the Heart Oxygen Rich
Arteries Carry blood AWAY from the heart (O2 rich and are red)
Veins Carry blood TO the heart (O2 poor and are blue)
Capillaries Carry blood to the cells (diffusion)
