Coordinates voluntary and involuntary responses of other organ systems by communication through electrochemical impulses & neurotransmitters
What does the central nervous system consist of brain and spinal cord function: integrating, coordination of sensory and motor commands, processing
What is the peripheral nervous system neural tissue outside the CNS function: delivers sensory information to the CNS and takes the motor commands to peripheral tissue and systems
What does the Afferent division do sends information received from receptors to the CNS = sensory neurons
What does the Efferent division do sends motor commands from the CNS to muscles, glands, and adipose tissues (effectors) = motor neurons
What does the somatic nervous system do provides control over skeletal muscle contractions (it includes voluntary muscle under conscious control as well as involuntary movements of skeletal muscle under sub-concious control, i.e. somatic reflexes)
