Photosynthesis and flow of energy in plants and animals/

QuestionAnswer
What are producers? Organisms that use an outside energy source like sun, to make energy rich molecules.
What are consumers? Consumers obtain energy by eating other organisms.
What is Mutualism? Both living organisms benefit from a symbiotic relationship.
What is Commensalism? A Symbiotic relationship where one organism benefits and the other is not affected.
What is Parasitism? A symbiotic relationship when one organism benefits but the other is harmed.
What are Niches? An organism can survive because of a special adaptation to improve survival.
What is the Stomata? They are a passageway for raw materials like Carbon Dioxide, waste gases, water vapor, and waste gases to enter and exit the leaf.
What do guard cells do? Guard cells surround each stomata and control its size.
What is cholorophyll? Chloroplasts are green because they contain a green pigment called chlorophyll.
What is Photosynthesis? The process when a plant's cholorophyll traps light energy and sugars are produced.
What is Aerobic respiration? Aerobic respiration returns Carbon Dioxide to atmosphere so plants can reuse it.
Why is glucose important for plants? Glucose is the main form of food for plant cells, and also is the basis of plant structures.
What is respiration? A series of chemical reactions that break down food molecules and release energy.
What keeps the epidermis of a leaf from drying out? A waxy cuticle.
