These are CHEMICALS that control how other organs function. Hormones
This is the general name for an organ that produces and releases hormones. Gland
This gland controls BODY TEMPERATURE. It's like our 'thermostat'. Hypothalamus
This gland controls METABOLISM and the use/storage of energy. Thyroid
These four glands on the back of the thyroid control CALCIUM use in the body. Parathyroids
This gland secretes INSULIN which helps cells absorb blood sugar. Pancreas
The female sex glands Ovaries
The male sex glands Testis
This DISORDER of the thyroid is caused by insufficient amounts of IODINE in the diet. Causes extreme swelling in the thyroid. Goiter
This DISEASE occurs when the pancreas does not make any/enough insulin in the body. Diabetes
These glands make ADRENALIN, a hormone which helps in emergencies and stressful situation. Adrenal Glands
This gland is often called the 'master gland'. It controls all other glands. Pituitary gland
