Cell process

TermDefinition
Passive transport The process of moving molecules in and out of cells which DOES NOT requires energy. Cells go from high concentration to low conentraition.
Active transport Movement of molecules in and out of cells Which DOES require energy.
Endocytosis the cell membrane surrounds a particle that is outside the cell and pulls it into the cell
Exocytosis the particle within a vesicle inside the cell fuses with the cell membrane to remove it from the cell and transport it to the outside of the cell.
Homeostasis process by which a cell keeps its internal environment stable even though its external environment changes.
Osmosis the movement of WATER from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration.
Photosynthesis Plants obtain energy from the sun and convert it into food through this process
Mitosis The process of how a body cell reproduces.
Stem cell Cells that have no specialized function and can be turned into any type of cell.
differentiation When the body decides which cell type or job a stem cell should be.
