Cell process
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Passive transport | The process of moving molecules in and out of cells which DOES NOT requires energy. Cells go from high concentration to low conentraition. |
| Active transport | Movement of molecules in and out of cells Which DOES require energy. |
| Endocytosis | the cell membrane surrounds a particle that is outside the cell and pulls it into the cell |
| Exocytosis | the particle within a vesicle inside the cell fuses with the cell membrane to remove it from the cell and transport it to the outside of the cell. |
| Homeostasis | process by which a cell keeps its internal environment stable even though its external environment changes. |
| Osmosis | the movement of WATER from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration. |
| Photosynthesis | Plants obtain energy from the sun and convert it into food through this process |
| Mitosis | The process of how a body cell reproduces. |
| Stem cell | Cells that have no specialized function and can be turned into any type of cell. |
| differentiation | When the body decides which cell type or job a stem cell should be. |
