| blood pressure | The force with which your heart pumps blood through the blood vessels. |
| pulse | The number of times your heart beats in a given amount of time (usually in 1 minute) |
| ribs | The bones that protect your heart and lungs. |
| atherosclerosis | A disease that involves a build-up of plaque on the artery walls, which makes them more narrow and may even block blood flow. |
| plaque | A fatty deposit that can accumulate on the walls of blood vessels. |
| hypertension | A condition where the heart pumps with too much force, causing the blood pressure to be too high. |
| hemoglobin | The chemical in blood that oxygen attaches to. It is found in red blood cells. |
| coronary circulation | Blood flow to and around the heart tissues. |
| pulmonary circulation | Blood flow between the heart and lungs. |
| systemic circulation | Blood flow between the heart and the rest of the body. |
