Intro to genetics

QuestionAnswer
Transmission Genetics aka classical genetics, studies the basic principles of heredity and how traits are passed form one generation to the next; addresses relation between chromosomes and heredity, arrangement of genes on chromosomes, and gene mapping;
Molecular Genetics concerns chemical nature of gene itself, how genetic info is encoded, replicated, and expressed; includes cell processes (replecation, transcription, translation) and gene regulation; focuses on structure, function, and organization of gene
Polulation Genetics ): concerns genetic composistion of groups of individual members of the same species and how that composition changes over time and geographic space; fundamentally studies evolution (evolution= genetic change)
Pangenesis theory of heredity, specific particles, gemmules, carry info from various sparts of the body to the reproductive organs from which they are passed to the embryo at the moment of contraception, from the greek
