What is the second step in interphase? Synthesis
What occurs in synthesis? Synthesis of DNA
What is the third step in interphase? Gap two
What occurs in gap two? Growth of organelles
What stage does a cell only spend 6% of its life in? Mitosis
What happens to chromatin in mitosis? Chromatin is scrunched into chromosomes
What is the first stage of mitosis? prophase
What occurs in prophase? -DNA scrunches into chromosomes -nuclear membrane and nucleolus disappear -spindle fibers form and attach to chromosomes
What is the second stage of mitosis? metaphase
What occurs in metaphase? -chromosomes line up in the middle
What is the third stage of mitosis? anaphase
What occurs in anaphase? -Chromosomes split in the middle -sister chromatids are pulled apart
