Cell Membrane One of the common characteristics of all cells is that they are surrounded by a barrier.
Golgi Apparataus Proteins received in the rough ER move into this organelle. it is a saclike structure.
Robert Brown In 1831 he identified nucleus and knew it was important.
Nucleus It contains all the cells (DNA) and instructions for making proteins.
Chromatin consists of DNA bound to a protein and is spread in the nucleus
Chromosomes When a cell divides chromatin condenses.
Nucleolus small dense region in the nucleus; makes ribosomes.
Nuclear Envelope it surrounds the nucleus and has a double membrane
Cytoskeleton Network of protein filaments that help the cell to maintain its shape and is involved in many forms of movement.
Microtubules Hollow structures made of proteins called tubulin; they help to maintain the cells shape.
Microfilaments made of a protein called actin; it supports the cells movement
