Cricks Identify why water is important to cells

QuestionAnswer
What percent of a cell is made of water? 80%
How does water help store substances in a cell? water is a solvent, so many of the things needed by the cell can be dissolved in water
How does water help transport substances? Once dissolved or floating in water, substances can move through the cell membrane.
How does water help cells have a rigid structure? Cytoplasm is 75& water, so the pressure of the water pressing on the membrane makes the membrane firm and rigid.
How does water help chemical reactions in the cell? Water provides a location for chemical reactions to occur, and can provide needed hydrogen and oxygen?
How does water help keep the inside of the cell free of waste? Waste matter is either dissolved in water or is suspended in water and transported out of the cell.
