| energy pyramid | the pyramid that shows the loss of energy in the ecosystem |
| carbon cycle | the movement of carbon from the nonliving organisms to the living organisms |
| resperation | the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide between living cells |
| nitrogen cycle | the cycle of nitrogen through the organisms, soil, water, and the atmosphere |
| phosphorus cycle | the cyclic movement of phosphorus in different chemical forms from the environment to organisms and then back to the environment |
