domain A taxonomic level above the kingdom level.
kingdom In classification, the broad taxonomic category above phylum.
ecology The scientific study of organisms interacting with their environment.
ecosystem A biological community and its physical environment.
evolution Genetic change in populations or species over generations.
natural selection Environmental control over species survival based on characteristics that they are born with.
adaptation A characteristic that allows an individual to survive in its environment.
scientific method A universal process used in discovery.
observation viewing results, behavior, or appearance during the scientific method.
hypothesis A tentative explanation or prediction.

control group The part of the experiment that is not changed or manipulated.
