TermDefinition
A nutrient A substance used by an organism for the Mrs. Gref activities.
Photosynthesis It is a process in wich a plant makes its own food out of water with minerals, sunlight and carbon dioxide.
Chloropalst You can find choloroplast in all the green parts of a plant.
Glucose ( carbohydrates) Can be found in fruit, honey vegetables and table sugar. ..... is the smallest particle of the carbohydrate group.
Starch (carbohydrates) This is a long chain of glucose. It can be found in potatoes, pasta and food made of grain.
Fibre (carbohydrates) You cannot break down fibre, but it is necessary for peristalsis in your digestive tract.
Fats ..... help your cells to absorb vitamins and they cushion and protect your internal organs.
Protein Has a long chain of amino acids and the chain in named ...
Amino acid (protein) your body needs 20 different types of amino acids. Those 20 amino acids are used to build new proteins that your body can't absorb through food. Your body can make certain amino acids, but others need to be provided by food.
Water Your cells need water in order to work properly. Most of the nutrients cannot be used unless they are dissolved in water. Water is lost by your body through sweat, urine and breathing , so you must replace water loss.
Vitamins Only in small amounts. Can be found in all kinds of food. Only two have to be made by the body itself: vitamin D and K.
Minerals Only in small amounts. Can be found in all kinds of food.
