QuestionAnswer
Cohesion An occurence of water sticking to other water molecules via hydrogen bonds.
Adhesion This means that water can definetly stick to other materials
Polar molecule A compound with one negatively charged side and one positively charged side
Hydrogen bond The side with hydrogen atoms attracts the oxygen side to itself of a different water molecule.
Surface tension A thin "skin" that makes water drop or fall in separate drops instead of one giant flap because the Surface tension is high
Capillary action When Cohesion and Adhesion work together to fight gravity so they can make water go up a plant root/stem and the plant can live
Specific heat capacity This is something that water is high in, specific heat is the amount of heat required to change the temperature of a unit mass of a given substance by a unit amount (usually a degree).
Expansion upon freezing Water, when it turns to ice it somehow turns into ice and also expands, and that's how water can crack a rock in half, this phenomena involves the volume of water increasing
Universal solvent This is what is water sometimes is called since it can dissolve a real lot of substances in it, making it the most universal solvent in all of planet earth
