TermDefinition
Axon The part of a neuron that sends messages away from the cell body
Brain The organ that controls the body and processes information like thinking, senses, and movement
Cell body The main part of a neuron that contains the nucleus
Dendrites Branch-like parts of a neuron that receive messages from other neurons
Executive function Brain skills that help you plan, focus, remember, and manage tasks
Frontal lobe The front part of the brain that controls thinking, memory, behavior, and movement
Mental flexibility The ability to change your thinking or actions when needed
Neurons Brain and nerve cells that send and receive messages
Occipital lobe The back part of the brain that helps you see and understand visual information
Parietal lobe The middle part of the brain that helps with touch and language
Self-control The ability to manage your emotions and actions, especially in difficult situations
Synapses The connections where neurons send messages to each other
Temporal lobe The side part of the brain that helps with hearing, learning, and emotions
