Winged clamp A winged dental clamp is a stainless steel, retentive device with extra "wings" (projections) designed for rubber dam isolation
Universal "Universal dental" most commonly refers to the Universal Numbering System, an American dental notation method (1–32 for adults, A–T for children)
Bow A dental facebow is a caliper-like instrument used in prosthodontics to record the spatial relationship between a patient’s upper jaw (maxilla) and the temporomandibular joint (hinge axis).
Jaws The dental jaw refers to the two bony structures (maxilla-upper, mandible-lower) that form the mouth's framework, supporting teeth, enabling biting and chewing.
Septum A dental septum is a thin wall of alveolar bone that divides, separates, and supports tooth sockets within the jaw
Invert a specific technique used during rubber dam isolation, where the edge of the rubber dam material is tucked into the gingival sulcus to create a watertight seal
Stylus a sharp, pointed tool used for precision marking or tracing
Maligned "Maligned" dental, more accurately termed malocclusion, refers to a "bad bite" or the improper alignment of the upper and lower teeth when the jaws are closed.
Exposed occurs when gum tissue recedes or is damaged, uncovering the sensitive, unprotected underlying tooth structure
Aspirate the suctioning of fluids, debris, or water spray from the mouth during procedures to maintain a clear field
