THE STORY Original population - change - some live & some die - survivors reproduce - new population
Adaptation A POPULATION adjusts by changing over time, not individual
Urbanization Developing land for human use, habitat destruction
Fragmentation Breaking up habitats
Resistance A gene gives something the ability to survive environmental pressure
Selection Pressure A factor that causes a struggle for survival
Competition Going for the same resources
Variation Differences among members of the same species
Genetic Diversity A population has many different options, they are not clones
Fitness Being well suited for an environment
Allele Frequency How often a gene is found in a poulation
Resilient A population that can bounce back after an interruption
Mutation Can create new gene options and drive evolution
Gametes Traits must be in these cells to get passed on
