| Postpartum | the time following childbirth; may refer to issues pertaining to the mother following childbirth |
| Postpartum blues | commonly include mood swings, crying spells, anxiety, and difficulty sleeping; typically begin within the first two to three days after delivery, and may list for up to two weeks |
| Postpartum depression | A more serious and longer-lasting depression after birth that can affect a mother’s ability to care for herself or her baby. |
| Postpartum psychosis | A rare but very serious mental illness after birth that needs immediate medical help. |
| Support system | A group of people who provide help, care, and emotional support. |
