| integrity | the action that is honest and transparent |
| duty/rules based approach | the action that follows the rules, regardless of the consequences |
| virtues based approach | the action that a morally good person would do/choose |
| beneficence | the action that maximises benefits and minimises risks/harm |
| ethical concept | a sense of right or wrong based upon morals and beliefs (5 concepts: integrity, justice, beneficence, maleficence and respect) |
| non-maleficence | the action that causes NO harm (or if harm is caused it should not be disproportionate to the benefits |
| consequences based approach | the action that produces the greatest number of positive outcomes and minimises negative outcomes |
| economic factor | impact of funds and money |
| legal factor | relevant laws, rules and processes |
| respect | the action that honours an individual/group’s rights, feelings, needs and values |
| social factor | influence of society on social norms |
| political factor | relevant impact from governing bodies (local, state, national, international) |
| ethical approach | a sense of right or wrong based upon morals and beliefs (3 approaches: consequences based, duty/rules based and virtues based) |
| justice | the action that treats everyone fairly and equally |
