What is ecology? The study of interactions that take place between organisms and their environment
Define Biotic factors All the living organisms that inhabit an environment
Define Abiotic factors The non-living parts of an organism's environment
What are the levels of organization? Organism, Population, Biological Community, Ecosystem, Biome, Biosphere
Define habitat the place a plant or animal lives in
Define niche an organism's total way of life
What factors do growth and survival of a population depend on? physical condition & available resources
What are biotic and abiotic factors that limit population called? limiting factors
Energy in an ecosystem originally comes from... the sun
Define producer (autotroph) any organism that can produce its own food
Define consumer organisms that can't make their own food
