Folate A B vitamin found in healthy foods that helps the body make new cells and DNA
Folic acid A man-made form of folate added to foods and vitamins
Gestational diabetes Diabetes that develops during pregnancy when the baby can not control blood sugar
High Blood pressure When blood pressure is to high, which can cause problems in pregnancy
Insulin A hormone that helps move sugar from the blood into cells for energy
Listeriosis A serious infection from contaminated food that can harm unborn babies
Miscarriage The loss of a pregnancy before 20 weeks
Placenta previa When the placenta covers part or all of the cervix during pregnancy
Preeclampsia A serious pregnancy condition with high blood pressure and organ stress
Preterm Labor Labor that starts to early, before 37 weeks
Soft cheese Cheese with high moisture; unpasteurized types can be unsafe in pregnancy
Still/birth Still/Born When a baby dies after 20 weeks of pregnancy or during birth
Unpasteurized Food that has not been heated to kill germs
