Chordate One of the many animal classes of phylum Chordata.
Notochord A flexible rod that supports a chordate's back.
Vertebra Many small bones that are a part of the back.
Ectotherm A body changes its temperature to the environment.
Endotherm An animal that controls its internal body heat.
Fish A vertebrate that lives in water.
Cartilage A tissue more flexible than bone.
Amphibian A vertebrate that is ectothermic.
Reptile An ectothermic vertebrate.
Bird An endothermic vertebrate that lays eggs.
Mammal Endothermic vertebrates that have skin covered with fur or hair.
Mammary Gland Glands in the mothers body.
Monotreme Lays eggs.
Marsupial Borna at a early stage of development.
Placental Mammal Develops inside its mothers body until its body systems can function.
Placenta An organ in the embryo.
