TermDefinition
Chordate an animal that has a notochord, a nerve cord, and a throat pouches at some point in its life
Notochord a flexible chord that supports a chordate's back just below the nerve chord
Vertebra an animal with a backbone
Ectotherm an animal whose body temperature is determined by the temperature of its environment
Endotherm an animal whose body temperature is regulated by the internal heat the animal produces
List the 3 characteristics of chordates/vertebrates a notochord, nerve chord, and pouches in the throat area, and most likely a backbone
Describe the difference between an ectotherm and an endotherm (include animal example) an ectotherm would need to live in a warmer climate because they cannot keep their bodies warm themselves. (lizard) An endotherm can live in any climate because they regulate their own body temperature. (Human)
