Things to do to help someone giving birth⭐

Top things to do to support someone who’s giving birth Advocate for their birth plan, offer for physical comfort, maintain a serene environment, and provide constant positive encouragement.
Anticipate needs like hydration, position changes, or cooling cloths, while ensuring they feel safe, heard, and empowered.
Water Therapy Drizzle water on the belly/back or use a shower spray; it's incredibly soothing.
Movement Encourage walking, using a birth ball, or rocking to help baby descend and ease pain.
Counter Pressure Use tennis/lacrosse balls or hands for back pressure, especially for back labor.
Heat & Cold Use heat packs for sore muscles or a fan for fluctuating temperatures.
Positions Rotate positions often and use tools like squat bars or rebozos to expand options.
Be Present Minimize phone use and distractions; focus entirely on the birthing person.
Calm Environment Dim lights, use gentle music, and speak calmly and slowly.
Empowerment Help them find their voice and encourage self-advocacy.
Listen & Watch Pay close attention to their needs and non-verbal cues.
Labor Bag Essentials Lip balm, hard candies/honey sticks, different massage oils/lotions, cornstarch (oil alternative), tennis balls, handheld fan.
Hydration/Snacks Pack plenty of water and easy-to-eat snacks (energy bars, fruit) for yourself and the client.
The Toilet A great place for release and dilation; sometimes called the "Dilation Station".
Consent Always ask before touching, and ask "How does that feel?".
Partner Prep Partners should learn labor basics and be present, not distracted.
Rest Doulas should rest when they can, even briefly, to maintain energy.
Clear Roles Have a contract to define expectations and avoid conflicts, especially during long inductions.
