Homeostasis Homeostasis is the body's automatic process of maintaining a stable, balanced internal environment.
Vertebrate an animal of a large group distinguished by the possession of a backbone or spinal column, including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fishes.
Invertebrate Invertebrates are animals that lack a backbone or internal skeleton.
Adaptations Adaptations" refers to changes helping organisms survive (like webbed feet or migration), adjustments in living things to new conditions (like humans moving to a new culture), or new versions of creative works (like a book becoming a movie).
Describe the three things that all animals have in common being the ability for movement (motility), development of sensory organs, and internal digestion.
Describe the four functions of animals Nutrition (getting food/energy), Respiration (gas exchange for energy), Movement/Response (finding food/mates, escaping danger via senses and muscles), and Reproduction (creating offspring).
Describe how animals are classified and the three ways these relationships are determined based on shared traits, with modern systems emphasizing evolutionary history (phylogeny) using evidence from physical features (morphology), developmental patterns (embryology), and increasingly, DNA (genetics)
