| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Cell Cycle | The regular sequence of growth and division that cells undergo. |
| Interphase | The stage of the cell cycle that takes place before cell division occurs. |
| Replication | The process by which a cell makes a copy of the DNA in its nucleus. |
| Mitosis | The stage of the cell during which the cells nucleus divides into 2 new nuclei and one copy of the DNA distributed into each daughter cell. |
| Chromosomes | A doubled rod of condensed chromatins; contains DNA that carries genetic information. |
| Cytokinesis | The final stage of the cell cycle , in which the cells cytoplasm divides, distributing the organelles to 2 new cells. |
| What takes place during the three stages of the cell cycle | Interphase is where the DNA gets copied. Prophase (mitosis) is where chromosomes form. Metaphase, chromosomes line up in center.Anaphase, centromeres split. Telephase, chromosomes split. Cytokinesis cell membrane pinches. |
| Draw and label c ell cycle | Look at book |
| Explain DNA replication and how it accounts for the way it copies itself. | DNA replication is in the interphase and it makes daughter cells |
