TermDefinition
Acoustics How sound behaves in a room.
Maintenance Taking care of something so it stays in good condition.
Masonry Building with brick or stone.
Material board A board showing samples of materials and furniture for a design.
Mosaic A picture or pattern made of small tiles or stones.
Off-gassing When materials release chemical fumes into the air.
Patina A surface look that becomes more beautiful as it ages.
Pile (carpet pile) The raised yarn on a carpet’s surface.
Plaster A mixture spread on walls to make them smooth and hard when dry.
Upholstery Soft fabric or leather that covers furniture.
Veneer A thin layer of nice material on top of a cheaper material.
VOCs Chemicals that enter the air as gases and may affect health.
