Green book ch. 3
1st period
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Cell cycle | The regular sequence of growth and division that sells undergo. |
| Interphase | The stage of the cell cycle that takes place before cell division occurs. |
| Mitosis | The stage of the cell cycle during which the cell‘s nucleus divide into two new nuclei and one copy of the DNA is distributed into each daughter cell. |
| Chromosomes | A double rod of condensed chromatin; contain DNA that carries genetic information. |
| Cytokinesis | The final stage of the cell cycle, in which the cell‘s cytoplasm divides, distributing the organelles into each of the two new cell. |
| What takes place during the three stages of the cell cycle? | The cell copies its DNA, the spindle fibers form a bridge, the chromosomes lineup across the center of the cell, the chromatids are drawn by its spindle fiber, and the cell stretches out. The nucleus comes back, and the cell splits in two. |
| Draw and label the cell cycle. | Look in book. |
| Explain DNA replication, and how it accounts for the way it copies itself. | The DNA unwinds, and then the molecule separate between the para nitrogen bases. The nitrogen bases that are floating in the nucleus pair up with the bases on each half of the DNA molecule. |
| Continue off DNA replication. | Once the new bases are attached, two new DNA molecules are formed. |
