| Genetics | The study of inheritance and variation in living organisms. |
| Allele | One of the pair of genes for a particular trait. Hint: One letter |
| Genotype | Actual set of genes an organism has for a specific trait. Hint: Two letters. |
| Phenotype | The physical characteristic of a trait. |
| Homozygous | When both alleles are the same for a trait. Hint: AA, aa |
| Heterozygous | When both alleles are different for a trait. Hint: Aa |
| Dominant | The version of the trait that shows up always. Hint: capital letter |
| Recessive | The version of the trait that only shows up if there is no dominant. It can be hidden. Hint: lower case letter |
