Cell Test # 2

Parts of the Cell & Microscope

QuestionAnswer
What does the organelles do? The organelles job to produce energy, builds and transports needed materials and stores and recycles waste
What does mitochondria do? A rod shaped organelles produce enrgy within the cell ***think mighty energy***
What is a vacuole? Some animal cells are called vacuoles. Vacuoles store water, waste, food and other things.
What is a chloroplast? An organelle that uses energy from the sunlight to make food for the cell.
What is cytoplasm? Cytoplasm is the area between the cellmembrane and the nucleus. It contains gel like fluid and it contains oirganelles.
What is a lysosome? Lysosomes are smal organelles found in many animal cells. They have chemicals which breakdown food and worn out cell parts. ***think trash collector***
What endoplasmic reticulum? The network of passageways that carry materials from one part of the cell to another. ***think tunnels ***
What is the ribosome? Factory to make proteins Ribosomes may be attached to the endoplasmic reticulum or float around freely--- ***think small protein makers***
What is the cell wall? The cell wall surrounds the cell membrane giving it a rigid box-like shape ***tupperwarethat holds your cellmembrane sandwich***
What is the nucleus? All plant cells contain a nucleus The nucleus directs all cell activities ***think brain of the cell***
What is the golgi body? It receives proteins, enzymes and other materials from the endo plasmic reticulum and packages them up to send to other parts of the cell ****Think gift wrapper in the North Pole for Santa***
What is the cell membrane? It protects the cell and regulates what substances enter and leave the cell ***think of it is a fence with a gate that opens and shuts for certain guests***

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
