| Germination | A plant embryo that resumes it's growth in a process. |
| Perennial | A plant that lives for several years. |
| Annual | Is a plant that completes it's life cycle and dies within one growing season. |
| Biennial | Is a flowing plant that takes two growing seasons to complete it's life cycle. |
| Primarily Growth | Growth that increases the length or height of a plant. |
| Secondary Growth | Growth that increases the width of stems and roots. |
| Apical Meristems | Are located at the tips of stems and roots, producing primary growth through cell division. |
| Cork Cambium | Lies within the bark and produces cork cells. |
| Vascular Cambium | The meristem that lies just under the bark. |
| Annual Ring | Layer of the secondary xylem formed each year. |
| Mineral Nutrients | Needed by plants in small amounts. |
| Auxin | A chemical that causes a stem to bend towards light. |
| Hormone | A chemical that is produced in one part of an organism and transported to another part where it causes a response. |
| Apical Dominance | The inhibition of the growth of buds along a stem by the apical stem. |
| Tropism | Is a response in which a plant grows either toward or away from a stimulus. |
| Photoperiodism | The response of a plant to the length of days an nights. |
| Dormancy | Condition in a inactive seed or plant. |
