| Critical night length | The numbers of hours of darkness that determines whether or not a plant will flower |
| Dormancy | A period of time when an organism’s growth or activity stops |

| Positive and negative tropism | Positive tropism is the growth or turning movement towards the direction of the stimulus. Negative tropism is the growth or turning movement away from the direction of the stimulus. |
