Genes
| Allele | A version of a gene. Each individual has two alleles for each gene, one from each parent. |
| Genotype | The genetic makeup of an organism (ex: AA, Aa, aa). |
| Phenotype | The observable traits of an organism (ex: purple flowers, white flowers, white with spots, etc.) |
| Homozygous | Having two identical alleles for a gene (ex: AA or AA) |
| Heterozygous | Having two different alleles for a gene (ex: Aa). |
| Dominant | An allele that is expressed even if only one copy is present (represented by a capital letter,ex: A) |
| Recessive | An allele that is only expressed if two copies are present (represented by a lowercase letter, ex: a) |
| Monohybrid Cross | A cross that examines the inheritance of one trait. |
| Dihybrid Cross | A cross that examines the inheritance of two traits at once. |
| Test Cross | A cross with a homozygous recessive individual to determine the unknown genotype of another individual. |
