Alimony Money paid to a former spouse for a legal separation or divorce
Assets Item of value that a person owns
Bankrupt When someone's debt is greater than their assets
Cash Value How much a insurance policy is worth if it is canceled before maturity
Coapplicant, Joint Applicant, Cosigner Someone who signs a loan with the borrower
Co-Ownership Joint ownership between two or more people
Creditor Someone to which money is owed
Credit References People who will recommend someone as a good credit risk
Debt Money that is owed
Debt Balance Amount of a debt that is still owed
Default Failure to fulfill the term of a loan agreement
Dependents someone how relies on someone for support
Finance Charge The total cost to use credit
Interest The amount paid for the use of borrowed money
Interest Rate The percentage of the principle that the borrower pays for the use of the money
Liabilities Financial obligations
Mortgage A loan for purchasing real estate
Mortgage Holder Person who made the mortgage loan
Proceeds The amount the borrower receives from a loan
Real Estate Land and property on the land
Repossess, Reclaim Take back what was sold on a loan that did not meet the agreement
