| Nonvascular plant | A low-growing plant that lacks true vascular tissue for transporting materials |
| Rhizoid | A thin, rootlike structure that anchors a moss and absorbs prater and nutrients for a the plant |
| Vascular plant | Plant that has a true vascular tissues for transporting materials |
| Phloem | The vascular tissue through which food is in some plants |
| Xylem | The vascular tissue through which water and minerals move in some plants |
| Pollen | Tiny structure (male gametophyte) produced by seed plants that contain the cell that later becomes sperm cells |
| Seed | The plant structure that contains a young plant and a food supply inside its protective covering |
| Gymnosperm | Plants that produce seeds directly on the scales of cones—not enclosed by a protective fruit |
| Angiosperm | A flowering plant that produces seeds enclosed in a protective fruit |
| Pigment | 1, a color chemical compound that absorbs light 2, a colored substance used to color other materials |
