Chlorophyll A green pigment found in the chloroplasts of a plant
Photosynthesis The process of a plant making its own food
Tissue A group of cell perform a special function
Chloroplast Structures within a cell in which the food is made
Vacuole a large storage sac that expands and shrinks
Cuticle A waxy, waterproof layer on the leaves that helps a plant retain water
Vascular tissue A structure in a plant that help water and minerals move throughout a plant
Organelle A structure in a cell that perfomes a specific job
Chromatin A complex of DNA
Mitochondrion A structure that produces power in a plant cell
Endoplasmic recticulum It produces protein for the rest of the cell and carries them to different parts of the cell
Lysosomes An orgenelle thats digests food
Golgi body An organelle that prepares protiens and lipid molecules
Describe the three main characteristics that all plants share Autotrophic, multicellular and cell walls
List the two things at a plant needs and the two things that makes during photosynthesis It needs water and carbon dioxide gas, and produces food and oxygen
What are two reasons why cell walls are important for plants It protects membrane and determines what comes into the cell
List the five things a plant needs to survive on land It needs to be able to obtain and retain water and nutrients, support their bodies, transport materials, and reproduce
Label a plant cell diagram and why its different from an animal cell The Cloroplast and cell wall are different than an animal cell
