TermDefinition
Chlorophyll A green pigment found in the chloroplasts of plants, algae and some bacteria
Photosynthesis Sunlight provides the energy for food making process, a plant uses carbon dioxide gas and water to make food and oxygen
Tissue Tissues are groups of similar cells that perform a specific function in an organism
Chloroplast Look like jelly beans are structures in which food is made
Vacuole Large storage sac that can expand and shrink, stores water, wastes and food
Cuticle Helps a plant reduce water loss and is waxy and waterproof layer
Vascular tissue A system of tube like structures inside a plant through which water minerals and food move
Organellee A tiny cell structure that caries out a specific function within the cell
Chromatin These strands contain genetic material the instructions for for directing the cells functions
Mitochondrion Rod shaped cell structures that convert energy in food molecules to energy the cell can use to carry out its functions
Endoplasmic reticulum A cell structure that forms a maze of passageways in which proteins and other materials are carried out to another
Lysosomes A small round cell structure containing chemicals that that break down large food particles into smaller one
Golgi body A structure in a cell that receives proteins
Three characteristics that all plants share Autotrophic, except some green algae, Contain many cells, all plants have a cell wall
2 things that a plant. needs & 2 things it makes during photosynthesis They make food and water during photosynthesis. They need carbon dioxide and water
2 reasons why cell walls are important for plants The cell wall surrounds the cell membrane and separates the cell from the environment
5 things a plants needs to survive on land Water, to obtain nutrients ,retain water, support their surrounding, transport materials, and reproduce
Label a plant cell diagram and why its different from an animal cell Plant cells have a cell wall chloroplasts and a large central vacuole animal cella do not have these things
