Atom Smallest basic unit of matter
Element one particular type of atom
Proton positive electrical charge
Neutron neutral electrical charge
Electron negative electrical charge
Isotope an element that has more protons than neutrons and therefore has a different Atomic mass
Ion An atom that has lost or gained one or more electrons
Compound a substance made of atoms of different elements bonded together in a certain ratio
Molecule two or more atoms held together by covalent bonds
Ionic Bond An ionic bond is a bond that forms through the electrical force between oppositely charged ions
Covalent Bond A covalent body forms when atoms share a pair of electrons
