Atom Basic unit of matter
Element Defined by the number of protons in its atoms
Proton Positively charged particle
Neutron Uncharged particle
Electron Negatively charged particle
Isotope Element with the same number of protons but a different number of neutrons
Ion Positive or negative electric charge due to an unequal number of protons and electrons
Compound Substance formed when two or more different chemical elements are chemically bonded together
Molecule Group of atoms joined together
Ionic Bond attraction between oppositely charged ions, which results from the transfer of electrons from one atom to another
Covalent Bond Chemical bond that is formed when atoms share electrons pairs
